Pixels

The term "pixel" stands for Picture Element. All television and computer images are made of individual pixels. Although a ball may look like it has smoothly curving edges on TV, it actually has jagged edges under magnification. This effect was most noticeable in old computer games, where the pixels were big and obvious. This page gives you some fun examples!

John Conway's Game of Life is an interesting simulation of how organized patterns can "evolve" in a digital universe governed by a few simple rules. It's worth a look!
